Review Aedle ODS-1 Classic, Earphones From France

Looking as chic and elegant as can be is the Aedle ODS-1 Classic earphones hailing from France. Bonjour! The fancy in-ear cans have made their way onto my desk and I’m wondering if they’ll make me say “J’adore!” Learn more in our Aedle ODS-1 Classic earphone review.

As introduced by the French house Aedle specializing in luxury nomadic accessories, ODS-1 is named after Homer’s poem, The Odyssey, and embodies aedle, the ever-evolving quest for perfection. This explains the more than luxe exterior and incredibly lightweight frame.

Packaging, Build, & Fit

These luxe looking earphones are honestly so beautiful. If you are into packaging, this is the earphone for you. Everything, and I mean everything, from the box to the physical earbuds, to the super soft carry pouch and metal warranty card is handcrafted with care. It reminds me of the elegance you find in Bang and Olufsen headphones. The simple, modern chassis also reminds me of Beyerdynamic Xelento which was marketed by the German company as an earphone that is also a piece of jewelry. The buds are ideal for jazzing up an casual ensemble or perfectly pairing with a dressed up outfit to the office.

However, I do have one vice. The earphones ship with both foam and silicone ear tips. I think the silicone ear tips could feel more durable. But on the contrary, they do provide good sound isolation. The ODS-1 Classic also ships along with a super soft carrying case lined with leather trim on the top and one of the softest materials my fingers have ever felt on the inside. Seriously. I couldn’t stop making my coworkers touch it. The top of the pouch is also lined with magnets to keep the earbuds from falling out. Oh, and the controller, which is just as pretty, is on the cable and is able to pause and play your music as well as skip back and forth between tracks and take calls. You’ll have to adjust the volume on your phone.

Sound

When it comes to sound, these earphones deliver relaxed, yet deep bass along with rich mids. The mids are thick and is where much of the action lives along with the low end. It’s full of life, but could use more detail. The same goes for the highs which are slightly positioned behind the mids so they don’t sparkle as much as I would like them to. Yet, they are present. Treble claps do make their present known and feel punchy, but also lack in detail. All-in-all it makes for a fun and enjoyable listening session.

Overall Performance

I’d have to say that these are gorgeous in-ear headphones with great sound. Basically, they are the Bang and Olufsen of earphones and a more affordable Beyerdynamic Xelento (in terms of style). Aedle ODS-1 provides all-around lush and warm sound for a pleasant and fun listening experience. Pair that with a lightweight and comfortable fit and a chic exterior and you’re good to go.
