Apple AirPods Pro 3 vs Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 Pro: The Ultimate Earbud Showdown

Apple and Samsung continue to represent two of the biggest names in true wireless earbuds, and the AirPods Pro 3 and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro show how closely matched the premium Bluetooth earbud market has become. Both models offer strong active noise canceling, IP57 dust and water resistance, ecosystem-specific smart features, spatial audio, and a familiar stem-style design. However, they approach the listening experience from different angles. The AirPods Pro 3 are built around Apple’s seamless device integration and lifestyle features, while the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro focus more heavily on balanced sound, customization, and Android-friendly usability. For iPhone users, the AirPods Pro 3 might feel like the obvious choice. For Samsung Galaxy owners, the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro are just as easy to recommend. The more interesting question is which pair performs better as a complete flagship earbud.

Look & Feel

The AirPods Pro 3 keep Apple’s familiar AirPods design language, so there is not much here that will surprise longtime users, and the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro feel like Samsung’s most direct answer to the AirPods formula. For listeners who already like the AirPods Pro fit, the Pro 3 should feel secure and natural. However, those who have struggled with AirPods staying in their ears probably will not find the design drastically different enough to change that experience. The Galaxy Buds 4 Pro’s fit feels stable, and the pinch-style controls are especially useful because they reduce accidental touches while still making playback and ANC adjustments easy to manage.

Design & Functionality

The AirPods Pro 3 use Apple’s custom high-excursion driver, high-dynamic-range amplifier, and Adaptive EQ system to maintain a consistent sound profile based on fit and ear shape. Their biggest advantage comes from Apple’s ecosystem integration. One-tap pairing, automatic switching, hands-free Siri, Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking, Live Translation, heart rate sensing, and strong iPhone compatibility all make the AirPods Pro 3 feel like more than just earbuds. They are designed to act as an everyday extension of Apple’s mobile ecosystem.

The Galaxy Buds 4 Pro use Samsung’s dual 2-way speaker system, giving them a more sound-focused foundation. Samsung also includes strong ANC, spatial audio support, Live Translate, and an in-app 9-band EQ for users with compatible Android or Galaxy devices. That EQ is a major advantage over the AirPods Pro 3, especially for listeners who want more control over bass, mids, and treble. Like the AirPods, though, the Buds 4 Pro lose some appeal outside their intended ecosystem. iPhone users miss out on app support and advanced customization, making them harder to recommend for Apple users.

Both earbuds deliver strong active noise canceling, but the AirPods Pro 3 have a slight edge in overall isolation. Apple’s ANC is highly effective against everyday environmental noise, making it a strong option for commuting, office use, travel, and general daily listening. It still has some limitations with higher-frequency sounds, but its overall performance is close to the best in the category. The Galaxy Buds 4 Pro also perform very well with ANC. Their isolation is close to what you get from AirPods, and they compete strongly with other flagship true wireless earbuds. They might not fully surpass Apple or Sony’s top-tier ANC systems, but they still offer enough reduction to make noisy environments much easier to manage.

Bluetooth

The AirPods Pro 3 use Bluetooth connectivity with their strongest functionality reserved for Apple devices. Pairing with an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch is fast and seamless, and automatic device switching remains one of the biggest reasons to stay within the Apple ecosystem. They can connect to non-Apple Bluetooth sources, but the experience becomes much less special without iOS and Apple-exclusive features.

The Galaxy Buds 4 Pro are similarly strongest when paired with Samsung Galaxy devices. Their Bluetooth connection is stable, and Galaxy device pairing feels smooth and convenient. Android users also get more control through Samsung’s app, including EQ and other feature adjustments. For iPhone users, however, the experience is more limited, making the Buds 4 Pro less ideal as a cross-platform option.

Battery Life

The AirPods Pro 3 offer up to 8 hours of listening with ANC enabled, or up to 7.5 hours with Spatial Audio and head tracking. With the charging case, total battery life reaches up to 24 hours with ANC. For everyday use, that single-charge performance is a strong upgrade and gives the AirPods Pro 3 enough longevity for commuting, workdays, workouts, and short trips.

The Galaxy Buds 4 Pro provide up to 7 hours of playback on a single charge, with the case extending total listening time to around 30 hours depending on use. With ANC enabled, real-world playback is closer to 6 hours per charge. That is still competitive, but the AirPods Pro 3 have the advantage in earbud battery life with ANC. Samsung’s case, however, offers more total rated playback time.

Soundstage

For listeners who care about width, separation, and a cleaner sense of space, the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro are the stronger performer. They have a wide and spacious soundstage that feels more naturally organized. They do not necessarily create the same exaggerated sense of scale as the AirPods Pro 3, but they offer better clarity and a more coherent stereo image. For listeners who care about width, separation, and a cleaner sense of space, the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro are the stronger performer.

The AirPods Pro 3 present a larger and taller soundstage than many true wireless earbuds. Their sense of scale is impressive, and Spatial Audio can make the presentation feel even bigger. However, the AirPods Pro 3 are not especially precise. Separation and placement are not always well-defined, and Spatial Audio can make the image feel more bubble-like while reducing width and positioning accuracy.

Low End

The AirPods Pro 3 have a bold, bass-forward sound signature. Their low end is thick, meaty, and powerful, giving music a strong sense of drive and impact. Bass-heavy tracks have plenty of energy, and the Pro 3 can sound especially fun with pop, hip-hop, electronic music, and modern mixes. However, the bass can also feel a little inelegant, and the lack of a true customizable EQ limits how much control you have over its weight. The Galaxy Buds 4 Pro also deliver excellent bass, but their low end feels more controlled. They can hit with deep, rumbly impact when a track calls for it, yet they show more restraint when the mix needs space. Their bass response is smooth and full without overpowering the rest of the frequency range. Compared to the AirPods Pro 3, the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro offer the more refined bass performance.

Mids

The midrange is where the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro start to pull ahead. The AirPods Pro 3 have a V-shaped profile that pushes the mids into the background. Vocals and instruments can still sound clear enough, but they do not have much body or crispness. The midrange is textured, but it rarely feels like the focus of the tuning. The Galaxy Buds 4 Pro sound more natural through the mids. Instruments have better tonality, and transients come through with more finesse. The mids are not the richest or most resolving in the true wireless category, but they have enough detail and flavor to make vocals and instruments feel more present. For listeners who care about vocal clarity, acoustic music, rock, jazz, or more balanced mixes, the Buds 4 Pro are the better choice.

Highs

The AirPods Pro 3 keep the treble smooth and easy to listen to, but they lack consistency and resolution. Cymbals and upper harmonics can sound soft or staticky, and there is not much sparkle or definition in the highest frequencies. The upside is that the treble avoids harshness, but the downside is that it does not bring much excitement or refinement. The Galaxy Buds 4 Pro have a more textured high end. Their treble rolls off and does not extend especially far, but it still carries a light gloss that gives the sound a delicate sparkle. They are not overly bright, but they provide more character and finesse than the AirPods Pro 3. In terms of treble quality, Samsung has the advantage.

Summary

The Apple AirPods Pro 3 and Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 Pro are both strong flagship true wireless earbuds, but they are made for different users. The AirPods Pro 3 are the more complete lifestyle product for Apple users, offering stronger ecosystem integration, excellent ANC, longer ANC battery life, and a wide range of smart features. They are fun, bass-heavy, convenient, and ideal for listeners who want their earbuds to work effortlessly with an iPhone. The Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 Pro are the stronger sonic performer. They offer a more balanced sound signature, cleaner mids, smoother treble, strong bass control, effective ANC, and better customization through Samsung’s app. For Android and Galaxy users, they are one of the best premium wireless earbuds available. If you use an iPhone, choose the AirPods Pro 3. If you use a Samsung Galaxy phone or prioritize sound quality, choose the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro.
