Can The Strauss & Wagner SonicSil Ear Tips Make My Sony WF-1000XM6 Earbuds Better?

I recently reviewed the new Sony WF-1000XM6, one of the biggest launches of the year in true wireless earbuds. In my review, I praised the XM6 for its refined audio quality and top-of-the-line active noise cancellation, but there was one thing holding it back from greatness. The new design of the WF-1000XM6 leads to a fit that isn’t as comfy and secure as previous models. I thought that the XM6 felt loose, which can not only affect comfort, but sound quality as well. My impressions of the WF-1000XM6 were based on the stock ear tips that came with the product, but there are always ways to circumvent this by trying out ear tips from different brands.

Strauss & Wagner, who have made some great audio accessories such as the Libsion cable and ear pads for the Focal Utopia, have recently released a line of new ear tips. The SonicSil are their foam tips for TWS, and are most like the WF-1000XM6 stock tips. Let’s see if these new tips can fix some of these comfort issues that would put the XM6 over the top as the best on the market.

What Are The Strauss & Wagner SonicSil Ear Tips?

The Strauss & Wagner SonicSil 4.0mm TWS Foam Eartips are a set of replacement foam tips designed for true wireless and wired in-ear headphones with slimmer 4 mm nozzle diameters. Built from slow-rebound memory foam, the main components include soft, compressible foam that gently expands to conform to your ear canal for a secure, pressure-relieving fit, enhanced passive noise isolation, and improved sound clarity compared to standard silicone tips.

SonicSil & Sony WF-1000XM6 Fit Test

Right away, the SonicSil tips fit perfectly over the nozzle of the WF-1000XM6. My preferred tips were the mediums, but the large ones also felt comfortable to me. I could immediately feel the difference when I put the earbuds in my ears. The housing was more secure and stationary, holding a firmer grip inside my ear. With the stock tips, the XM6 moved around more, which slightly affected isolation. With the SonicSil tips, isolation was better, holding the earphones steady as Sony’s strong ANC took over.

SonicSil & Sony WF-1000XM6 Sound Test

If the Strauss and Wagner SonicSil tips help hold the WF-1000XM6 better in your ear, how does that affect the sound quality? There’s nothing about the SonicSil tips that will dramatically change the resolution of the earphones, but there are some smaller aspects that I noticed. I enjoy the bass clarity of the XM6 already, but the SonicSil tips helped anchor the frequencies even more, focusing them into a more concise shape. The benefit of having a tighter fit for your earphones is that the sound can now fully form, and foam tips like the SonicSil are great for making sure you’re hearing everything you need to. A loose fit can sometimes fail to enclose the space that the sound signature needs to showcase its proper scale. It can also muffle some frequency properties, but I don’t think that’s a problem with the SonicSil tips.

Summary

For all the praise the Sony WF-1000XM6 rightfully earns for its class-leading active noise cancellation and refined, high-resolution sound, its slightly unstable stock fit leaves room for improvement. What the Strauss & Wagner SonicSil 4.0mm TWS Foam Eartips prove is that sometimes the missing piece isn’t new hardware, it’s proper seal and stability. By delivering a firmer, more secure fit, the SonicSil tips allow the WF-1000XM6 to perform closer to its full potential. Improved passive isolation supports Sony’s already excellent ANC performance, while the tighter acoustic seal enhances bass focus and overall clarity without artificially altering the sound signature. Rather than reshaping the tuning, these foam ear tips help the XM6 sound more complete and controlled — exactly as intended.

If you found the WF-1000XM6 slightly loose or inconsistent with the stock ear tips, the SonicSil upgrade is a simple but impactful solution. In a crowded true wireless earbuds market, where small ergonomic differences can determine daily usability, optimizing fit can elevate an already elite product into true best-in-class territory. For XM6 owners chasing maximum comfort, isolation, and sonic precision, the Strauss & Wagner SonicSil tips are an easy recommendation.
