There are a ton of “truly” wireless earbuds competing in the prototype market right now. The latest model by FireFlies Audio boasts a simple incentive – affordability.

These ultra portable buds are planning on retailing for the low price of $149.99, but are currently available for $79. FYI,  most of the competition is selling their buds for about $100 more.

FireFlies are incredibly small (and modeled after real fireflies, then rightfully so). The rechargeable buds and charging case are barely larger than a quarter. They are equipped with Bluetooth 4.0 technology to pair with phones, laptops, and other smart devices. Ergonomically designed with FireFlies patent pending design, the bite-sized buds fit securely and comfortably into the groove of the ears so they won’t fall out under the most extreme conditions.

However, for those who want their headphones to feel extra secure, the fitness buds ship with a set of small, medium, and large locking wings that secure the earbuds in the inner curve of your ear.

The green and black earbuds also feature a green LED light to indicate when the buds are powered on. The tiny body features two exposed connectors. These connectors are what charge the buds while they’re resting in the rechargeable case. Unfortunately, one gull charge only lasts the buds for a three hour run time. But, the case is said to store up to three full charges.

FireFlies may be a bit cheaper than most cable-free buds because they lack  microphone – meaning you cannot use them to make or take calls. The earbuds will automatically disconnect when your phone rings so you can take the call as one normally does. The Utah-based company promises via their Kickstarter campaign, the earbuds will have the ability to play, pause, and skip back and forth between songs.

Those who pledge $79 or more will receive a pair of FireFlies which are slated to ship in September.
